Rhabdomyolysis

Tourniquet Use and AKI by Muhammad Amir Ayub

The other day, I had a referral for preop assessment for a surgery that potentially could have a tourniquet applied. The problem was that he probably had some CKD and AKI on top of it. When I reviewed him, I suggested that tourniquet application may not be suitable in view of possible reperfusion injury. But it was an educated opinion at best at the time.

I may be right, but the reasoning is relatively wrong. It's probably more from the rhabdomyolysis than the reperfusion with systemic inflammation.
